My great grandfather was born January 11, 1870 and died June 10, 1929. He married Ida May Havens who was born on September 11, 1882 or 83 and died June 1, 1944. Both are buried at Scotts Cemetery, east of Plymouth, Illinois.

As I've been told, "Col" lost one of his legs as a child as the result of a playground accident at school. Medicine wasn't the best at that time and gangrene claimed that appendage. From what I understand, he seemed to manage his handicap well throughout his life and was a successful farmer. When picked on as a youth, he was able to more than hold his own by whacking his assailants with his crutch.
